Folate on a label is a family, not one substance. Folic acid is the synthetic form used in most fortified foods and older supplements. 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF, methylfolate, often sold under trade names) is the form found in blood.
Labels are required to declare folate in mcg DFE and are allowed to add the amount of folic acid in brackets. A line reading “Folate 680 mcg DFE (400 mcg folic acid)” describes 400 mcg of compound. Dosescope stores 680 mcg DFE as the amount and keeps the bracketed text in the form column so both numbers stay visible.
What this page does not do
Dosescope does not say which form is better, and it does not check whether a claimed form is really in the product. It records what the label declares and where that reading came from.
