Folate
US Daily Value for adults: 400 mcg DFE · unit on labels: mcg DFE
US labels declare folate in mcg DFE (dietary folate equivalents), and when folic acid is added its amount in mcg must follow in parentheses (21 CFR 101.9). 1 mcg DFE = 1 mcg food folate = 0.6 mcg folic acid, so a supplement with 400 mcg folic acid is labelled 680 mcg DFE, and the 400 mcg DFE Daily Value corresponds to 240 mcg folic acid. China and the EU state folate in plain mcg.
